Google translate features for mobile, Google is bad or good ?

Default featured post

Google is dominating almost everything in computer and technology area. In my last post I discussed about setting up Gmail for your domain email. In this post I have targeted Google translate.

Google translate was not a very good option for me at first because it did not have English to English translation and it happened many times that the meaning of translation was totally wrong and unreliable. Therefore, I have installed Long man dictionary on both my laptop and smartphone. Nowadays the situation is totally different. For example in last couple of months ago, Google added English to English translation which I can understand the meaning with the word description such as verb, noun, etc. The only main remain drawback was offline translation which seems Google also added this feature for its mobile app.

You can see the screenshot below.

I have also quickly checked the app and found Google translate is also capable to translate your SMS directly. Look at the following picture.

This feature is good and bad at the same time. Good is in terms of user friendliness and ease of use and bad due to security at least for me. I don’t want Google app access to my personal SMS directly even though that I am using Android equipped phone. This has made me concern one more time about Google and also based on this article from anonymous website, I came to conclusion that despite many awesome facilities and services Google provides, they are trying to filter and control internet and everything on the net. The simplest example could be find in Google translate. If you enter an offensive word in Google translate, it will not give you the correct translation meaning and somehow it censors the word which is not good at all.

In addition to that capturing all market in computer and technology areas by Google made us totally dependent to this giant and we almost reached to the level that avoiding using Google products is almost impossible. Lastly, Google has made competition quite tough for other companies and gives no space for small and medium size to enter to the market. If you come up with something magnificent tomorrow either it would be purchased by Google or would be produced 100 times better by Google. Even for giant companies such as Microsoft the situation is critical. Simplest example could be failure of Bing, search engine, Being translate, Windows phone, Windows Live mail aka Hotmail and even they are slowly losing market in web browser. To prove aforementioned claims look at the following charts.
